Ardavan Vossoughi
Ardavan Vossoughi is a contemporary music composer, born in Tehran in 1986. He began his advanced studies in composition at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena under supervision of Salvatore Sciarrino, attending the course from 2016 to 2021, receiving the Merit Diploma in 2019 and the Composition Prize in 2021. He continued at the “Cesare Pollini” Conservatory in Padua with Giovanni Bonato, earning his Master’s degree in 2019, and later completed the post Masters ”Alta Formazione” in composition at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Ivan Fedele in 2022.
His works have been performed and recorded internationally in countries including Italy, The Netherlands, USA, France, Germany, and Iran.
Significant recognitions include First Prize at the Adriatic LNG Prize (Rovigo, 2018) for “Hu Ma Ya”, the Disklavier Composers Contest victory (Cremona, 2020) with “Not to be”, Honorable Mention at the Alvarez Chamber Orchestra Competition (UK, 2020) for “The White Walls”, and Honorable Mention at the Da_sh editions 1st International Composition Competition (Madrid, 2021) for “Hu Ma Ya”.
Vossoughi has been commissioned by institutions and festivals such as Scuola Danza Padova, Cristofori Festival, Amici della Musica, and Fondazione Bassiri, with ongoing collaborations at Cristofori Festival (2020–2025). Since 2022, he has been composer in residence at Fondation Biermans Laporte (in partnership with Ensemble Dynamiqueparis), presenting works like “Emanation”. Notable recent performances include “Faqaan” by Ensemble Suono Giallo (Berlin, 2024) and “Alef” at “Xenakis Today” (Suresnes, France). In 2025, Vossoughi composed ten studies exploring the expressive potential of the Disklavier, presenting this research in Trieste in July 2025 with a lecture-concert illustrating his compositional approach.
